This periodontitis is caused when plaque is build-up and also there is slow deterioration of gums and bones. This periodontitis can even leads to loss of teeth if not treated properly.

Causes Of Periodontitis:

In all the types of periodontitis, they begin developing with plaque. Plaque is a kind of sticky film which is mainly composed if bacteria and if it is left untreated it can cause serious damage to gums and bones.

• Plaque forms on your teeth: Plaque gets developed when starches and sugars in the food interact with the bacteria inside the mouth. You can avoid this by brushing your teeth twice a day and also flossing atleast once a day. Plaque gets forms quickly so you have to keep cleaning your teeth every day.

• Plaque can cause gingivitis: It is the mildest form of the periodontitis disease. Gingivitis is irritation and inflammation of the part of your gum around the base of your teeth (gingiva). It can be reversed with good oral health care and professional treatment.

• Ongoing gum inflammation can cause periodontitis: This develops a pocket kind of space between your gums and teeth that gets filled with plaque, tartar and bacteria. In time, these pockets become deeper, filling with more bacteria. If this is not treated properly it can cause severe and deep infection and also a loss of tissue and bone, and ultimately you may lose one or more teeth.
